POWER SURGE!
Sorry it has been so long! If you live in the 618, chances are you got smacked by the "macroburst" on the 8th, too. Saluki Illustrated was down for five full days while we cleaned up the yard and patiently waited for the kind folks at Ameren to restore our electrical services. Don't get me wrong, we SO appreciate their hard work, but I just KNEW that as soon as I went and borrowed a generator, our power would be restored. Sure enough, after picking one up Wednesday night and setting up our premium unleaded-powered Hewlett-Packard (yeah, I know, Mac fans, I know!), the power kicked on around 10 am Thursday. Scrambled eggs on the grill, cold showers, and two fridges full of spoiled food later, we're just happy to be alive. Campus was obliterated, but work is under way to clean it up. Long story short, we fell a bit behind, but we are dashing to the finish to get the first issue in the mail by June 1. You won't be sorry though. In addition to our Brandon Jacobs story, we've got a "Catching Up With..." story about Jamaal Tatum written by Saluki blogger and fansite operator Riley Swinford. We've got Dr. Julie Partridge's new column about sports psychology, a feature on longtime Saluki physician Dr. Rollin Perkins, and much, much more. If you haven't subscribed yet, why not do it today? We promise you won't regret it.P.S.: Check out our latest issue of sister publication, Southern Illinois Sports Connection. Get a taste for what SI will be like and read up on some great prep and junior college athletes!
