Chugging Away...

Hey Saluki Fans! We are starting to hit our stride here and are really excited about some stories we are working on. Saluki Illustrated photographer Chris Kays was in the house yesterday, shooting some awesome shots of campus, Saluki gear, and Dr. Rollin Perkins who will be featured in our first issue. We've also got another piece brewing with Saluki women's tennis standout Fadzai Mawisire you won't want to miss. Our biggest feature though is Brandon Jacobs, who sat down with SI co-founder Jim Muir for an exclusive one-on-one interview. If you haven't subscribed to SI yet, this story alone will be worth your annual subscription.

One last thing- We are putting the finishing touches on our Saluki News for May. If you've subscribed to the magazine or just signed up for the newsletter, it should be on its way to you within the next two weeks. 'Til next time...

Jabbify me!

Hey Saluki faithful! In our continuing effort to get you hooked on Saluki Illustrated, we have added "Jabbify" to our home page. It works much like Facebook chat, for those familiar with it. Just click the little maroon box in the lower right hand corner of your screen and chat away with other Dawg fans. Keep it clean though...this is a family oriented establishment ;)

Saluki Baseball Continues Late Inning Heroics

The baseball Salukis continued their recent winning ways, beating Illinois 9-6 yesterday at Rent One Park in Marion. The Dawgs led early but gave up six runs in the sixth inning. However, Saluki left fielder Jordan Sivertsen (#4, left) cranked a grand slam in the eighth inning to seal the victory. The win moves the Salukis to 15-20 on the season. Samantha Okon photo.

Salukis win in Extra Frame

Congrats to the baseball Salukis (14-20), who won in 10 innings yesterday, beating the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (19-14) 4-2. For Saluki closer Bryant George (left), it marked his 20th career save, putting him all alone ahead of Al Levine in the SIU record book for all-time saves. Way to go Bryant!

Delays... Delays... Delays

So it is 11:24 on Sunday...I had hoped to have our site live in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn't get everything squared away to begin taking subscriptions online, so we have decided to push the launch back a bit.

Never fear, though. We will be live within the week and all will be awesome in MarooNation!
